One of Australia’s big four banks has apologised to its customers after a major technology break shut down online banking services around the nation.

The outage has been affecting a significant portion of Commonwealth Bank customers across Australia with people struggling to do any online banking.

Services were restored on Thursday afternoon according to a statement from the bank after reports of ATM’s closing themselves automatically and people unable to purchase groceries at supermarkets.
