NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- A man was recently sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison after being convicted of raping and trafficking a teenage girl in 2022.

According to a release, on Nov. 5, 2022, 27-year-old Roberto Tomas Rodriguez Carlin, who was 25 at the time of the incident, picked up the victim near her residence in Chesapeake after he told her he was only 17.

Court documents state that Carlin then drove the victim to Norfolk, where he then sexually assaulted her multiple times in the vehicle before dropping her off back to her home 12-hours later. During the incident, reports state that Carlin made multiple calls to other individuals, suggesting for them to sexually assault the victim.
