AHMEDABAD: India are in a strong position in the first Test against the West Indies. After bowling out the hosts for just 162 runs in their first innings, India finished the day at 121 for 2. Yashasvi Jaiswal (36 off 54) and Sai Sudharsan (7 off 19) were the two wickets to fall. At stumps, KL Rahul was unbeaten on 53 (114), while captain Shubman Gill was on 18 (42).
Earlier, the West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first but were bundled out cheaply by the Indian pace attack. Mohammed Siraj picked up four wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah took three. Among the spinners, Kuldeep Yadav claimed two wickets and Washington Sundar got one. Justin Greaves top-scored for West Indies with 32 off 48 balls.
