Expecting that Heist, a new and much buzzed-about restaurant in Manotick , would be busy for dinner a few Saturdays ago, we reserved our table for four. We just didn’t know how busy it would be.

When we arrived, the village’s main drag was shut to traffic and filled with vendors and pedestrians. Taste of Manotick, an annual street festival, was winding down. Not only was finding parking tougher. Heist, which seats about 200 people inside plus dozens more on its patio, was slammed.
