London — Two people were killed and three others were seriously wounded in a terror attack outside a synagogue in the northern English city of Manchester on Thursday, police said. The vehicle and stabbing attack comes as Jewish people around the world mark the holiday of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish religious calendar.
Police said the suspect was shot by firearms officers and later died. A bomb disposal unit was deployed to the scene. Police said there was a loud noise as investigators gained entry to the suspect's vehicle, but that there was no risk to the public.
