Two men were arrested after a violent struggle, including allegedly assaulting police officers and almost grabbing one of their guns, outside MGM Music Hall at Fenway Wednesday night.

Boston Police Department officers working a paid detail helped security remove 30-year-old Edwin Rivera of Mashpee from the Lansdowne Street venue. According to its schedule, MGM was hosting Louisiana rapper Kevin Gates for his Amilio Tour.

Police say, however, that Rivera was not going out without a fight and became “increasingly combative towards officers.”

As the officers and Rivera reached the street, Rivera “threw a beverage and swung at an officer, then grabbed onto the officer’s jacket,” according to a BPD statement. At one point, police say, Rivera reached for an officer’s gun and knocked away the
