An Edinburgh son has paid tribute to his 'superhero' mum after her passing.

Mum-of-four, Sharon Gilroy, 59, died on September 18 after suffering from a stroke last year. She leaves behind her husband Derek, sons Derek, Ryan, Dale and Jordan and her five grandchildren.

Sharon's passing came as a shock to her family and the Pilton community where she lived.

Her son Dale has paid tribute to his mum and described her as a "family orientated person who would do anything for you".

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, he said: "She was just a superhero mum who was as strong as an ox. She knew what she wanted and she was never too shy to express how she felt.
