NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Less than 24 hours after the federal government shut down over budget disputes, prospective homebuyers in Louisiana are already facing delays in moving into their new homes.

Andrea Tyler, a realtor with At Home Realty Group, said she was scheduled to close on a new-construction home in Chalmette next week. The property is located in a flood zone, and the buyers are relying on FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to complete the purchase.
