LOGAN, W.Va. (WOWK) - The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources cut the ribbon Wednesday on a new elk viewing platform and education center at the Tomblin Wildlife Management Area in Logan.
The platform is at the top of a natural overlook, which has been the site of the DNR's elk restoration project since 2016. Visitors can see sweeping views of the elk management area from the new platform.
The education center will have conference rooms, offices and other amenities for visitors, volunteers and researchers.
"To bring them back, you know, and to be close to work with a big animal like that. They run different, even. They hold themselves, kind of, like you say, in a majestic manner. They hold their heads differently. They almost prance when they run," said Randy Kelley, elk project
