Plans to introduce a new “online hospital” service are set to combat the “shocking and worrying” conditions of GP practices across Kent.

The new scheme is expected to deliver millions of appointments across England and help slash waiting lists, Sir Keir Starmer announced this week .

On Tuesday (September 30), Kent Local Medical Committee (LMC) - the voice of GPS in Kent - released its 2025 GP survey.

It found that 38% of practices across the county describe their workload as “rarely manageable or unmanageable,” driven largely by “inappropriate transfer from hospitals and community services”.

The work also uncovered that almost 40% of GPs plan to retire, reduce hours, or leave NHS practice within the next five years.
