The Bank of America Chicago Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 12, bringing runners from around the world to the city’s streets. As one of the six Abbott World Marathon Majors , it is known for its flat, fast course and the energy of spectators lining all 26.2 miles.

Runners are assigned to start corrals, with three main waves beginning at 7:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m., and 8:35 a.m. Corrals close before each start, so arriving early is essential. The course passes through 29 neighborhoods, from the Loop to Lincoln Park, Pilsen, Chinatown, and Bronzeville, before finishing in Grant Park. While the route is mostly flat, runners should prepare for slippery footing on carpeted bridges and the short but challenging “Mount Roosevelt” hill just before the finish line.
