ST. LOUIS — The nonprofit arm of a north St. Louis church has been tapped to distribute up to $1 million in state aid to help residents displaced by the May 16 tornado, local clergy announced Thursday.

Bishop Lee Scott of the Lively Stone Church of God, on St. Louis Avenue, said the money can be used to cover rent, mortgages, utility bills and home repairs

Scott said applications through the church’s foundation will be available at giacdc.org , and that case workers will move quickly to get funds out. He urged residents to apply soon because the aid comes from a statewide program, and people affected by other recent storms in Missouri are also eligible.
