A bicyclist was killed early Thursday in a collision on a dark street in north Tulsa, police said.

Officers responded around 5 a.m. to the scene near 36th Street North and Yale Avenue, where a 16-year-old girl was pronounced dead after the crash.

Witnesses reported the girl was riding in the middle of the street around 4500 E. 36th St. North when a vehicle had to swerve to avoid hitting her, according to a Tulsa Police news release.

Another vehicle heading eastbound toward Yale then struck the bicyclist from behind, police said.

"She was not wearing any reflective clothing, and the bicycle did not have any illumination on it," the release states.

Police have not released the name of the girl who died.
