The Texas Tech football team started the season with 97 players on one-year NIL revenue-sharing contracts and an unspecified number on multi-year deals, according to the university. The Red Raiders have 109 players on the roster.

In September, Tech responded to an open-records request from the Avalanche-Journal that asked for a breakdown of the number of players on one-year, two-year, three-year, and four-year or longer NIL revenue-sharing contracts. Tech said 97 players are on one-year agreements and none are on three-year, four-year, or longer deals.

Tech declined to disclose the number of players on two-year contracts, citing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

This week, Tech coach Joey McGuire said negotiations are ongoing during the season.
