ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KTVI) – A custodian at a Missouri high school faces charges of harassment and property damage after racist graffiti was discovered in the building.

The disturbing graffiti, which included racial slurs and references to sexual violence, was discovered last week at Francis Howell High School in St. Charles. It was reported to the faculty by a student before quickly being removed by administrators.

The school's custodian, identified as Tyler Carter, was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree property damage and harassment motivated by discrimination to frighten or disturb. He has also been placed on leave by school officials.

Police records suggest that Carter had entered several classrooms and bathrooms on Sept. 23, writing racially derogatory statement
