CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A 34-year-old Fairmont man accused fleeing from police and crashing a vehicle that head drugs and guns in it has been sentenced to 12 1/2 years in federal prison.

Northern West Virginia Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh sentenced Emmanuel Deontae Gibson on Thursday for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

A three-year term of supervised release will follow the prison term.

Wrongdoing was alleged Dec. 15, 2023, in Monongalia County.

Westover Police attempted a traffic stop on Gibson’s vehicle and Gibson fled, leading to a chase that ended with Gibson’s arrest, the Office of Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard previously said.
