AUGUSTA, Kan. (KSNW) -- An Augusta man was seriously hurt in a crash in Butler County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened shortly before 2 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Highway 54 at SW Diamond Road, west of Augusta. Troopers say a 39-year-old Augusta man was traveling east at high speed when he crashed his Ford Ranger into the back of a Dodge Ram pickup driven by a 47-year-old Andover man.
The Ford Ranger left the road and entered the ditch, where, according to the KHP, it rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest. The Augusta man was ejected from the Ranger.
He was taken to a Wichita hospital in critical condition. The patrol says he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Andover man was not hurt.
