PERRY CO., Ind. (WFIE) - A Perry County teen has reached a deal to spend 15 years in prison.
Prosecutor Samantha Hurst says 18-year-old Keshawn Mayes, who was 17 when he fired 15 rounds at a car, pled guilty to aggravated battery and three counts of battery with a deadly weapon.
He was facing several more charges, including attempted murder.
Authorities say it happened in July of 2024 at Rainbow Lake.
They say five people were in the car.
The driver was shot in the hand.
The front seat passenger was shot in the back.
The right rear passenger suffered injuries from broken glass.
The middle seat passenger’s lip was burned when a bullet grazed her face.
The fifth person was not hurt.
Officials say everyone has recovered.
Mayes was sentenced Tuesday.
