Clay, N.Y. — A man was charged Thursday with killing his aunt, who was found dead in her home in Clay in July.

Kristen A. Baxter, 30, of Clay, was charged with second-degree murder and is being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center.

The man is accused of causing fatal blunt force injuries to his aunt’s head and compression injuries to her neck, according to a criminal complaint.

The woman killed was Christa M. Baxter , 58, said Jennifer Jiron, a state police spokesperson. She confirmed the man is the victim’s nephew.

Christa Baxter was found dead inside the home on Marlin Drive around 5:41 a.m. July 3.

Troopers went to the home for a medical call. State police initially reported her death as suspicious . It has now been ruled a homicide.
