KINGSTON, N.Y. — U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan, who is an Iraq War veteran, and members of his Democratic House Veteran caucus, blasted President Donald Trump for a speech he gave in front of 800 military brass.

In a letter to Trump, 15 members of the caucus, along with 11 other House Democrats, offered up a litany of criticism of suggestions made by the president, including Trump’s proposal of sending troops into American cities for training purposes.

“We write as freedom-loving Patriots to strongly reject both the rhetoric and substance of your remarks,” the lawmakers’ letter said. “We know firsthand what it means to put our lives on the line for our country; and we urge you to hear us when we say that this is not what any of our brave young men and women in uniform signed up for.”
