Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited Kantara: Chapter 1 is now playing in theatres. The action drama laced with divine elements opened with paid premieres yesterday and word of mouth is positive. The encouraging mouth talk helped the film exceed expectations.

According to trade reports, Kantara: Chapter 1 is expected to collect around Rs. 80 crores gross on the opening day globally, making it one of the biggest starts for a Sandalwood title. The Hindi version fared much better than the expectations with solid walk-ins.

Since the reports are encouraging, the stage is now set for a strong weekend. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, the big-ticket entertainer stars Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in key roles. Ajaneesh Loknath composed the tunes.
