A pair of Wolverines were recognized and Michigan was picked near the top of the Big Ten in the conference’s preseason honors.

The Big Ten announced on Thursday the voting results for its preseason polls and all-conference teams. The league’s 18 head coaches and a select panel of media members, which included this writer, produced two separate ballots.

While voters were asked to rank all 18 teams, only the top five choices were revealed. UCLA was picked first and Maryland second by both the coaches and media. The coaches chose Michigan third, followed by USC, while the media had those teams flipped. Both polls had Ohio State fifth.

The 10-player preseason All-Big Ten ballots were nearly identical. Both included Michigan sophomore guards Olivia Olson and Syla Swords. Olson was the league
