One of the biggest personalities in college football could be looking to make a comeback.

Ed Orgeron, who won a national championship as the head coach of LSU in 2019, has been out of the game since he was fired by the Tigers following the 2021 season. However, Orgeron — lovingly referred to as "Coach O" by college football fans — has seen his name floated for several openings in recent years, including a few jobs that have fired coaches already in 2025.

Could Coach O be a candidate to fill one of those vacancies? According to the man himself, it's at least in the realm of possibility.

"All depends what the best thing available is," Orgeron told WAFB's Jacques Doucet when asked if he was interested in head coaching or assistant opportunities. "But I'm ready to coach again, I left a little meat on the bone. I'm ready to go."

Orgeron is well-traveled in the sport, and he holds a 67-47 career record as a head coach. He was the head coach at Ole Miss from 2005-07 and later went 6-2 as the interim coach at USC after the firing of Lane Kiffin in 2013. He was 51-20 in his time at LSU, but in the two seasons after the Tigers won the national title, they went just 11-11 as Orgeron was ultimately fired.

His name has been tied to openings at Arkansas, given his SEC ties, and UCLA, given his two stints as an assistant coach at USC. Whether the 64-year-old gets play for those jobs remains to be seen, but it's clear he doesn't consider himself to be retired.
