FOXBORO — Patriots offensive coordinator had a joke loaded in the chamber when asked about veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs on Thursday.

Diggs made headlines after Sunday’s six-catch, 101-yard performance when he said his comfort level in the offense was just a 5 out of 10. Diggs went on to explain that’s because he never wants to be too comfortable and that the comment was made with some sarcasm and facetiousness.

That didn’t stop McDaniels from answering a question about Diggs’ versatility in the offense by saying, “It’s probably like a 9 out of 10 in terms of understanding the system and the scheme. Got a little bit of juice left to squeeze out of the orange. Obviously, it’s important. And I think he was being modest when he said that. I heard that little comment.”
