BURLINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - According to the Burlington Fire Department, more than than three-quarters of its on-duty personnel responded to a structure fire on College Street in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The fire was on the 300 block on College Street in Burlington, near South Willard Street, and reportedly began some time before 2:30 a.m., by which time smoke detectors in the building had gone off.

The fire was reportedly burning in the rear wall of the building. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, but said that due to smoke damage and minor fire damage, the tenants of the building are not yet able to return home. Authorities said the fire is not considered suspicious, but its cause is being investigated further.
