The pride of Walpole and Northeastern, Cam Schlittler will take the mound for the Yankees against the Red Sox Thursday night.

The 24-year-old right-hander grew up rooting for Boston but in this game, he’ll try to send them packing.

Cam Schlittler played baseball for Northeastern after falling in love with the game in Walpole. Schlittler started his career like most major leaguers - playing Little League and pitching for his high school team.

Chris Costello was his coach at Walpole High.

"It’s a real quiet, confidence and emotion about him. That’s real infectious. He’s just a natural leader," Costello said.
