On Thursday, police identified the suspect in the Manchester synagogue attack as Jihad al-Shamie, a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent. Greater Manchester Police confirmed his identity late Thursday.

Al-Shamie was neutralized by armed officers following an attack involving a car and stabbing near a synagogue during Yom Kippur, a sacred day in the Jewish calendar. He drove into pedestrians and stabbed at least one person.

Authorities have arrested three additional suspects, including two men in their 30s and a woman in her 60s, on suspicion of terrorism-related activities. They remain in custody as investigations continue into the planning and execution of this vicious act.
