PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) - North Country Honor Flight will take to the skies Saturday in Plattsburgh for their last flight of the season. The organization has been sending veterans to the nation’s capital for 12 years, and Saturday’s flight will mark their 1,000th participant.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Arlington and all that down there as well; I have never been there,” said Richard Dupee Jr., Plattsburgh native and Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam. “I first went in as a security policeman. Six days prior to going, they turned around, cancelled my orders and said, ‘We got good news and bad news. The good news is you’re not going to Vietnam, the bad news is, shut up and we will tell you where you are going.’”
