PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - The ACLU of Peoria and ACLU of Illinois is calling for a full and comprehensive investigation surrounding police actions after officers responded to two people shot downtown Sunday.

The ACLU chapters called into question officer’s actions after widely circulated video purportedly showed use of force - including an officer kneeling on someone’s back or neck - against the public in an “emotionally charged situation.”

The ACLU said in a statement that the events that took place early Sunday morning deserve a complete and thorough investigation, but that it cannot be limited to those who fired shots and injured at least two people.
