WHITEWATER, Wis. (WMTV) - Whitewater officials believe a power strip caused a fire Wednesday night at an apartment complex.

According to a release from Whitewater Fire and EMS, firefighters responded just after 8 p.m. to the 1500 block of West Wildwood Road for a report of smoke coming from an apartment.

When crews arrived, firefighters did not see any flames.

As they investigated, firefighters found smoke coming from an apartment door.

Firefighters said an aggressive attack was used to put out the fire, which limited damage to only the bedroom, where the fire started.

Whitewater officials determined electrical components found in the bedroom, along with a power strip, caused the fire.

No one was hurt, the agency noted.

The residents of the apartment were displaced from fire.
