At least one player from the powerhouse St. Benedict’s Prep boys soccer team has been issued a two-game suspension by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association for his role in a post-game brawl Saturday night with St. Peter’s Prep.
The suspension was levied Thursday, five days after a melee broke out in the handshake line following a tightly contested game between the two rivals at Lincoln Park in Jersey City.
As the skirmish unfolded, St. Benedict’s star Amadou Hann charged after an NJ Advance Media photographer assigned to cover the game and grabbed him by the throat, according to two witnesses. Hann was suspended indefinitely Tuesday by the school.
The NJSIAA declined to say how many St. Benedict’s players were suspended or identify any players punished. Meanw
