CHICO, Calif. — Lacrosse may soon become an official varsity sport at Chico High and Pleasant Valley High.

On Wednesday, the Chico Unified School Board will review a proposal from Friends of Chico Lacrosse. The group submitted a full budget and implementation plan, estimating each school would need about $8,500 annually to cover uniforms, equipment, and coaching.

"We would love to work collaboratively with both schools and the district," said the group's director. "Our goal is unity and community support."

Both schools already have an invitation to join the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. If approved, lacrosse would launch as a spring sport.
