The Old Town Chinatown area may not be home to Lauren Lesueur anymore, but it’s still her neighborhood, and it’s certainly where she works.

For the owner and curator of elle Gallery , the area’s history and some of its empty storefronts offered a chance to launch a new art project that brings light and energy back to the buildings. That project, The No Vacancy Window Gallery, features the work of 17 local artists displayed in the windows of 17 vacant buildings.

“All of the buildings down here, most, if not all, have all of this historic architecture,” Leseur said. “It’s really intentional and you can tell someone cared when they were building this part of town. ... It’s very dreamlike for me to just imagine all of the wonderful things that probably happened in these spaces.”
