TYLER, Texas (KETK) -- Tyler native Carleen Dark-Bays officially announced her campaign for Tyler City Council District 6 during a kickoff event on Tuesday.

Dark-Bays has strong ties to the community with her ventures as a businesswoman and her work as the Chair-Elect of the United Way of Smith County.

“Tyler is growing,” Dark-Bays said. “Right now, we have a choice. We can either let that growth manage us, or we can manage it wisely. I’m running for City Council because I want to direct the growth so Tyler remains a place that people of all ages can love and call home.”

The event featured prominent Tyler leadership including President of the Tyler Economic Development Council Scott Martinez and outgoing District 6 Councilmember Brad Curtis.
