Forest last hosted a match in a European competition 29 years ago

Continental chants ringing out on the banks of the Trent. The chatter of a foreign language in the city's pubs. A hard to pronounce name adorning one half of a scarf.

After 29 long years, European football has returned to Nottingham .

Unfortunately Nottingham Forest couldn't match the occasion, falling to an embarrassing 3-2 defeat to Danish champions FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday night (October 2).

However, it couldn't detract from the excitement prior to kick-off at the City Ground - from both sets of supporters.
