Five games into the season, the Colorado football team feels it has underachieved.

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes has a different take on the Buffaloes’ start.

“A good football team that is kind of on the verge of breaking through,” Dykes said at a press conference this week. “Just haven’t been able to make plays down the stretch to win a couple of games that were really close.”

CU (2-3, 0-2 Big 12) hopes the breakthrough comes on Saturday when it visits Dykes’ TCU squad (3-1, 0-1) in Fort Worth, Texas (5:30 p.m. MT, Fox).

The Buffs’ three losses have come against teams with a combined record of 13-0: No. 17 Georgia Tech (5-0), No. 23 BYU (4-0) and unranked Houston (4-0). Two of those losses came by one score and the other was a close game in the second half.
