SAN ANTONIO — One of San Antonio's busiest intersections continues opening up for business as the yearslong project to expand Loop 1604 from four lanes to 10 along a 23-mile stretch on the north side hits another checkpoint.

Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation say they plan to open a new flyover ramp at Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 – the fifth in the last 10 months – by 5 a.m. Monday, creating a smoother commute for drivers traveling from I-10 West to Loop 1604 East. It will be accessible on I-10 just past UTSA Boulevard.

It follows other flyovers opening up to commuters at the northwest-side intersection, including two others in the last two months. Another which opened in late August and connects Loop 1604 West and I-10 East rises 128 feet into the air, making it the
