The NYPD implemented enhanced security measures at city synagogues Thursday, following a deadly terrorist attack in Manchester, England, that killed two Jewish worshippers on Yom Kippur.

The victims were stabbed to death outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester, according to a BBC report citing authorities. Three additional people have remained hospitalized following the attack.

Responding police officers killed the attacker who Manchester police have identified as 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent.

While authorities believe there to be no connection between the Manchester attack and Jewish New Yorkers, police are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
