California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed over 100 bills this week, including several from Central Valley lawmakers.
The governor also announced that he vetoed nearly two dozen bills, including one from Sen. Anna Caballero (D–Merced) that would have provided a personal income tax credit related to medical equipment.
Local bills approved: One of Caballero’s bills that Newsom signed was Senate Bill 72, which directs the Department of Water Resources (DWR) to modernize the California Water Plan and develop a water supply target to be achieved in 2050 and beyond. It also requires the DWR to expand the membership of the advisory committee to include tribes, labor and environmental justice interests. • “This bill will require DWR, in its next plan update, to analyze current and future water needs
