SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A new case of measles has been confirmed in Southern Utah, bringing the statewide total to 45.

This new case has been identified in the Southwest Utah Health department and is the 31st case in that region this year. The Utah County Health District has seven cases, the Bear River Health District has four cases, and the Southeast Utah Health District has three cases.

According to the Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), this newest case is in an unvaccinated individual. Only one of all measles cases this year has been in a vaccinated individual.
