SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. —
Former Scott County Sheriff Kenneth Hughbanks, who is connected to the Jamey Noel case, has filed a motion for a change of plea.
Hughbanks appeared in court in April on a felony tax evasion charge, at which he pleaded not guilty.
He is accused of receiving more than $275,000 from the Clark County Sheriff's Office commissary fund, along with obtaining power of attorney and taking more than $120,000 from the bank account of a family friend with dementia.
A special prosecutor said Hughbanks' connection to Noel brought his crimes to light, but they did not fully involve Noel.
On Wednesday, Hughbanks filed a motion for a change of plea and sentencing hearing.
