CHESTER, S.C. (WBTV) - Chester County city leaders have reported receiving letters that were threatening them and their families with physical harm.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has confirmed to WBTV that the letters are being investigated.

The City of Chester Mayor Carlos Williams said he and six city council members received threatening letters in the U.S. mail, addressed to their homes, last week. He said it immediately raised flags.

“That would put the city and county officials on high alert because you know if someone has all your addresses, we don’t know, has that individual come to our homes before?” Mayor Williams said.
