FOXBOROUGH — After Hunter Henry caught a 31-yard touchdown pass in Sunday’s win over the Panthers, he sat next to DeMario Douglas on the Patriots bench and put his arm around the young wideout.

“I only got in because of you,” Henry said to Douglas. “It’s only because of you, buddy.”

Douglas finished without a reception against Carolina, but his downfield blocking sprung Henry to run after the catch on his touchdown, so the tight end let Douglas know it didn’t go unnoticed. Henry also went out of his way to secure the football after TreVeyon Henderson’s first NFL touchdown so the rookie could have the keepsake forever.

It’s no coincidence that Henry’s peers voted him a team captain this season. The 30-year-old tight end has 15 catches for 205 yards and three touchdowns this season,
