The U.S. National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) is putting the country on notice regarding potential attacks and infiltration by the pan-Islamist terrorist organization Al-Qaeda.
According to a memo released by the NCTC, Al-Qaeda is “likely seeking to leverage their media publications and global conflicts, particularly where there is U.S. support or military involvement, to inspire potential attackers.”
The memo warns local law enforcement agencies of potential threats to large gatherings, including concerts and sporting events, and advises government officials to avoid surveillance and refrain from publicly sharing travel plans or schedules.
