Costumed revelers flocked to the popular Halloween destination Thursday for the 28th annual Haunted Happenings Grand Parade.

More than 15,000 people were packing the streets for the official start to the Witch City's Halloween season .
The parade goes from Shetland Park and winds through downtown, ending at Salem Common.
The city is rolling out new safety measures this year. For the first time, the entire parade route is lined with metal barricades.
Road closures are in place and parking bans are in effect across downtown, so people are urged to plan ahead before making their way to Salem.
