SUMTER, S.C. — Big changes are coming to Patriot Park as Sumter County officials move forward with Phase Two of a major expansion aimed at increasing recreational opportunities for the community.

Helen Roodman, planning director with the Sumter City-County Planning Committee, confirmed that the second phase of the project has been approved and is expected to serve even more residents and visitors.

According to documents filed with the Sumter City-County Planning Commission, Phase Two will bring a new 15-court pickleball facility, three pavilions, additional landscaping, and a new parking lot to the park.
