The public have been urged to avoid a residential street in south-west Sydney, as police officers and other emergency services conduct a special operation.
The operation is occurring on Wollongbar Avenue in Panania, with officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attending.
Aerial footage shows several emergency service vehicles, including multiple armoured police vehicles, stationed on the street and front yards of homes.
Police sources with direct knowledge of the situation have told the Herald that officers were called to the street in response to reports of a man with a gun. Investigators suspect the man has links to bikie gangs, said a source not authorised to speak publicly.
