Prosecutors laid out a first-degree murder case Wednesday against a Portland man who fled a marijuana shop where he worked during a robbery and then doubled back to the store and gunned down two of the robbers while their pistols were holstered.

Attorneys for Jason Steiner , meanwhile, said the La Mota employee was legally justified to open fire because the robbers had threatened his life mere seconds earlier and could have easily pursued him to a fatal end.
