MONROE, La. (KNOE) - When his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, Dr. John Fisher had a front row seat to what cancer can do to a person’s body. The cancer ravaged her body, and a double mastectomy was necessary.
Dr. Fisher created a 3D bio-printed Nipple Areola Complex ( NAC) as an alternative to other breast reconstruction methods, like tattooing.
In the future, Dr. Fisher hopes to add cellular components to the NAC but research is still ongoing. NAC engineering is flexible enough to be personalized if needed.
