Alcatraz, one of the most popular tourist spots in the Bay Area, was among the many things impacted by the government shutdown Thursday.

Alcatraz City Cruises, which manages tours to the island, posted on social media that all of Thursday's Alcatraz tours had been canceled due to the ongoing government shutdown.

The closure led to long lines of disappointed tourists looking for a refund or to reschedule.

Late Thursday, the company said it's planning to resume Alcatraz tours on Friday, pending some final details.
